update (21 June 2012): Zimbabwe's flag carrier Air Zimbabwe failed to renew its registration with International Air Transport Association's (IATA) Operational Safety Audit (IOSA), a fundamental requirement of IATA membership, and therefore got suspended from the international industry trade group of airlines with immediate effect.
update (05 May 2012): VOA is reporting that Air Zimbabwe had only three passengers on board the flight between Bulawayo and Harare on Wednesday (02 May 2012). In the article VOA is also quoting State Enterprises Minister Gorden Moyo saying that "he was surprised the airline had resumed operations when the government is still looking for an investor to partner the company, saddled with a $140 million debt." update (03 May 2012): According to a report in the online edition of the Zimbabwean newspaper "New Zimbabwe", the country's flag carrier Air Zimbabwe resumed domestic flights. The newspaper is quoting Air Zimbabwe's chief executive Innocent Mavhunga saying that the airline will be flying three times a week (Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays) between Harare, Bulawayo and Victoria Falls and that the airline will gradually increase flights as the market picks up. International flights remain suspended.

update (19 March 2012): The Zimbabwean government has announced it will absorb the $150m (R1,1bn) debt of its national carrier, Air Zimbabwe Holdings and relaunch the airline as Air Zimbabwe Private Limited.
update (13 March 2012): Zimbabwe's national flag carrier Air Zimbabwe Holdings has been disbanded, ending almost 32 years of continuous service. But Transport, Communications and Infrastructural Development Minister Nicholas Goche immediately announced a ‘rebranding’ of the airline’s company, which is now Air Zimbabwe Private Limited. [more]
update (05 March 2012): Air Zimbabwe has published a short statement on their website saying that "due to operational challenges all flights remain suspended until March 18, 2012".
update (24 Feb 2012): Air Zimbabwe has now suspended all flights indefinitely. This was after workers vowed not to report for duty until they are given their outstanding salaries. The workers have not received salaries since July 2011 and are owed over US$35 million.
update (22 Feb 2012): Air Zimbabwe failed to resume its domestic flights Monday as workers and management could not find a breakthrough on salary dispute. Airline officials are currently not able to predict when the flights will eventually resume.
According to Zimbabwe's independent newspaper "The Zimbabwean" (online edition, 21 Feb 2012) , the pilots of Air Zimbabwe actually went on strike again on Monday over the non-payment of outstanding allowances and salaries.
Zimbabwe's national flag carrier, Air Zimbabwe, has announced plans to re-start local flights next Monday (20 Feb 2012) after beeing grounded for weeks. The airline will service the Harare - Bulawayo - Victoria Falls route on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays.
